O Clap Your Hands is a joyful an vibrant setting of Psalm 47:1-6, written for the Choir of Oldham Parish Church for their 2026 Ascension Service.
The piece is set for Soprano, Alto, Mixed Lower Voices, and Organ or Piano. The piece is written with flexibility in mind, working completely well as a unison song, or even with just two parts. O Clap Your Hands is easily achievable by a choir of any size in a short rehearsal period with a catchy refrain and very readable parts, all without sacrificing the pomp, circumstance, or fanfare that Ascensiontide deserves.
The piece is so versatile in fact that on the day of its first performance it was performed by a small parish choir, an ensemble of university choral scholars, and a cathedral choir across three different countries! So there is something in it for everyone!
